And just like that it’s Monday again! I don’t know where the weekends go but it seems every Monday I’m already planning for the next one and wanting it to be here.
Friday – I was home Friday night to celebrate Mother’s Day a few days early. We had a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant which was a perfect ending to the work week. My mom is not someone who cares to be the center of attention so was more than happy for the low key Friday night instead of a big production on Sunday. Plus my dad was able to join which was an added bonus.
I know everyone is bias but I truly have the most amazing mom in the world. She puts everyone before herself and is ALWAYS there to help anyone in need. I am so lucky to have her not only as a mom but also as a best friend. She has been there for all the ups and downs throughout life and the one person who knows everything that goes on in my head. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t talk to her about 35 times and could not be more grateful and appreciative of everything she does for me.
Saturday – I wasn’t able to coach on Saturday but did go for a bike ride. This time off from running has allowed me to focus on biking and swimming and I’m trying to see it as a good thing (KEY WORD TRYING). I am up to 75 miles on my bike and although it is at a slower pace I’m still putting in the work and the time which is all I can ask of myself.
Saturday was also spent celebrating a big 1st birthday! My little Chloe turned one on Saturday and we managed to spoil her more than she already is. I never wanted a dog when I was younger but now she is easily one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. She is like a constant buddy to play or talk to. And I promise she is the best cuddlier in the world.
My New England Team Challenge folks also participated in a coast to coast 10K to raise money for CCFA Saturday AM. I was so sad to have missed it but seeing how much of a family this chapter is, is a great reminder of why we need a cure and how important resources like TC are for IBDers, families, spouses, etc. It was VERY strange to wake up one a Saturday morning and not be heading to training when others were running but will be back next week for our re commitment party! 🙂
Sunday – The weather was AWFUL Sunday which took away the option to do much. I did swim a few miles in the morning but the majority of the day was spent being lazy and relaxing. Sunday night I spent prepping for the week and researching some fun activites to start planning for the upcoming few months. I’m a huge fan of having things on the calendar to look forward to and so that they actually happen. I am always open to suggestions on new places to go, things to try, etc. I also started realizing last night how much sugar I have been consuming again and how bad my stress eating has been the past few weeks. I am going to try to cut back this week and already have a weekend treat planned for if I make it!
With taking the week to bike and swim I am hoping that this week will bring running back into my life. I have another PT appointment on Thursday and will be trying some short run/walks this week to see how it feels. I will also be making strength a priority again and TRYING to not get emotional if it is another week without running.
